How To Apply Hair Extensions?

Knowing how to apply hair extensions is the second important step after researching about the types and selecting one suitable type of extension for your hair. Applying them onto your hair is vital as you do not want your hair to receive any damages that may occur.

Firstly, you have to make sure that your hair is clean and dry. It is better not to apply any conditioner before attaching any hair extensions as the oily coating on the hair might weaken the bond. Next, pick on the best hair style and decide on how you want to apply the hair weft onto your hair. This step is important as different types may be subjected to different methods of attaching them.

Begin at the back of your head and separate your hair by making a narrow section along the natural hair line. Then tie the small section in a braid and leave it aside, out of the attachment area. Then create another narrow section from one ear to another. The remaining hair is tied into a ponytail and placed it out of your way.

After that measure and cut the hair extensions into the appropriate width measured from one ear to another. Allow a small patch of natural hair on the sides to cover the presence of the hair weft.  Then apply a small portion of the liquid bonding glue onto the hair weft and wait for it to turn tacky. This may take more quite some time as the bonding glue is quite tough and sticky.

Next apply it onto the separated section of your hair. Do not apply it on the scalp, only near to the scalp. Remember to press it onto place for few seconds in order for it to dry. If you want a stronger and long lasting bond you may heat the bonding to ensure stronger seal by blowing using the hair dryer for few seconds. Be careful to blow in a back and forth patter to avoid burning and accelerate the drying process.

Repeat the steps by making another narrow section of your hair and continue the stated steps until you are satisfied with the amount of hair added.  You may practice the method with a friend or by yourself and always begin with small number of hair extensions. Try to avoid oily conditioners and direct heat that may loosen the attachment bond.
